Things to Know Before Buying Glasses

Before you comparison shop online, consider the following!

  1. Start with an up-to-date prescription. Most glasses prescriptions expire after two years. Before investing in a new pair, make sure you update your glasses prescription at your annual eye exam.
  2. Not all lenses are created equal. Talk to your doctor and optician about the many types of lenses and lens coatings that may best suit your lifestyle.
  3. Measurements matter. Precision is important! Let an expert optician measure to make sure that your exact prescription (whether it is monofocal, bifocal, progressive, or prism) fits comfortably in the frames you have picked!
  4. Get the right fit. Once you have your new pair of eyeglasses, let an expert optician adjust them to fit your face, so that they are not too tight or too loose.
